María Isabel is a 24-year-old Dominican-American artist, model, and social media star who hails from Queens, NY. She released her debut single, “The 1,” earlier this year and quickly grabbed the attention of tastemaker outlets including Pigeons & Planes and Lyrical Lemonade. Her voice and lyrics are refreshingly vulnerable, flipping seamlessly from English to Spanish across her songs. Maria has been featured in high profile brand collaborations (Urban Outfitters, Revolve) which allows her to continuously reach new audiences while always driving back to her artistry. Her musical influences include singularly talented and distinct women like Selena, Amy Winehouse, Lauryn Hill and Alicia Keys. In 2021, she released her second EP, i hope you’re very unhappy without me, to great acclaim, and also embarked on her first North American tour from September to November. Maria’s own musical offerings offer the same brand of heartfelt vulnerability that these women are known for. Musically rooted in R&B, Maria can also blend easily into mainstream pop. Her own musings as a lifelong poet - exploring topics such as mental health, family history, her Dominican-American heritage and relationships - serve as the foundation of her development as a singer-songwriter.
