PLEDGE OF ACTION

The team at The Society Management stands in solidarity with the black community both in the US and around the globe. Both historical and ongoing experiences of injustice are evidence of deep-rooted systemic racism that must be eradicated once and for all.

Simultaneously, those of us in the fashion community must acknowledge that we are part of this problem.  For years, our industry has appropriated BLACK culture and BLACK faces in an effort to cultivate an exterior of inclusivity, diversity, and contemporary themes, all the while providing few actual career opportunities for people of color within corporate work forces and positions of influence. We must reevaluate our own efforts and devote time, energy and resources to ensure that we are actively holding ourselves accountable to the image we so freely promote. Our progress indicates we’re moving in the right direction, but it also highlights clear areas where we still need significant improvement.

As part of our commitment that we will uphold not only now but also for years to come, we at The Society Management pledge to:

1) Continue advocating for our talents of color not only through standard career navigation, but also continue providing them with platforms and safe spaces to express how our own industry can improve in terms of ongoing racial prejudices.

2) Continue making The Society Management an inclusive place for people of color to work and thrive. We commit to a long-term focus on diversity and inclusion by retaining employees from a diverse range of backgrounds across all areas of our business and expanding opportunities through our outreach, recruitment and hiring practices.

3) Continue the education of allyship and inclusive leadership behaviors by providing tools and strategies for our employees, in turn forming a strong and knowledgeable support network for talents and colleagues of color.

4) Continue contributions and talent partnerships with organizations at the frontlines of social justice issues, amplifying their messaging both within our industry and beyond on an ongoing basis.

As a company, we will continue to have tough conversations to eliminate biases in all its forms. We will listen to learn, not just to respond, and we will educate ourselves and those around us.

Alongside our commitments, we ask that you contribute to the below organizations, and the many more out there who have been actively fighting for positive change.
